Because He first loved me, I serve Him. Here Jesus Christ fulfills prophecy by riding the donkey into Jerusalem. He looks sad rather than triumphant because He knows the suffering ahead of Him. Obedient to the Father to death, he opens the door for us to be forgiven and have eternal life in heaven with Him. I am joyful for His sacrificial love and His triumphant resurrection!

I drew this during the worst of Covid. It was such a frightening and lonely time, but the joy of the Resurrection came through as I was drawing.

He Has Covered Himself in Glory - Fine art photography of Resurrected Christ Crucifix by Frank J Casella.

If Love was easy, it would not be Love.

With the Catholic Faith we often see the crucified Christ on the cross. With this cross, however, we see the resurrected Christ.

The symbolism of both versions is to remind believers that it is through our suffering that we become a new person in Christ. The Church is known as an redemptive agency in the world.

Christ exampled Love though giving of self and through suffering, so that we might all be covered by the Glory of God.

All we have to do is receive it with our heart, and then live what we received and now believe.

Lent is a time of renewal and reflection. Renew your faith in Jesus Christ. Renew your trust in His healing Spirit by The Sacrament of Confession/Reconciliation. Reflecting on His Passion and Resurrection. Adoration for the soul.

***Lastly, should you really want to be touched by The Holy Spirit, google “The Rescue Project”. Father Ricarddo has been gifted by the Holy Father, no doubt. Once on the Rescue Project site you will see 3 little scroll lines in the top center of the page. Tap on them. You will then see “Watch Rescue”. Tap on “Stream Online”. It will take you to the Chapters/Episodes. Start on Chapter 1 “Why Stories Are Important”. I promise you, you will be moved!

Great topic! The first time I REALLY understood the Easter Story, I was probably in Jr High. As a kid, it was about the man, Jesus, who was hung on the cross, dies and came back from the dead and went to heaven. He died for my sins. I believed it with my head, but it was not until I was, as I stated, in Jr. High, that I really got the story in my HEART.

I sat in the chair my dad would sit as he prepared his Sunday School school lessons (we were protestants then). I curled up in the chair with bible in my lap. I read so carefully, the story...slowly and carefully. The text seemed to be bolder than the rest of the text not about the entire Easter story. It was amazing. For a while, I seemed to be transported to the Jerusalem watching the entire story being played out. The trial...NO...HE IS INNOCENT my mind screamed. Then, how sad he was when Peter broke His heart after the cock crowed those 3 times...Peter walking away, his head down, tears streaming down his face.

Then, then Via De La Rosa...that crown of thorns shoved into His head, and how on the road to Golgotha, as it slipped, some in the crowd would shove it down on his head again. To see Jesus struggling against the weight of the cross...falling and scraping His knees. Blood streamed down. My heart was crying...WHY

And then Mary, His mother...watching. Her heart had to be breaking to see her son...her ONLY son...her ONLY child...being tortured and the people laughing and beating Him along the way. It was too much for me. I cannot imagine what she was feeling! She had to be happy to know that there were those along the way who tried to help Jesus. It must have helped her aching heart.

I began crying at the gravity of the whole story then...realizing the Jesus died for me...a kid who lived on the farm. I knew then, that I wanted to be Him forever...I wanted to be my best so I would have that HOPE of being with him eternally!

So now I find God in the things I photograph. These hummingbirds show , to me, Jesus.

This mosaic shows Christ folding the napkin that covered His head, an indication He is returning in His Second Coming. Napkin folding was a Jewish practice when someone left the dining table if he planned on returning to the table, in other words, don't remove my plate...yet! I'll be back! His body had already resurrected from the binding linen strips. Death could not hold Him. He is the risen Christ, indeed! So here we see Him off the cross in all His glory. The great thing about religious art is creative expression within the bounds of truth!

The title of this piece implies emotional content that is tied to Christianity and a belief in the risen Christ. However it can also serve as pleasant, inspiring decorative art hanging on any wall.

On our Easter joy timeline, this mosaic depicts Thursday, the night of The Last Supper. Jesus takes off His outer garment and begins to wash the feet of His disciples. They are stunned. Peter objects to His Lord humbling himself by this task, but Jesus kindly rebukes Peter and says He must wash his feet or Peter can have no part in Him. Peter then gladly offers his feet, even his head and hands too if necessary, to the Lord for washing. This mosaic depicts the scene.

Next we see Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane praying earnestly that He might escape the suffering and death in front of Him. But He is obedient in His cry. He has come to earth to die for the sins of humanity and will bring glory to God the Father. Enjoy this mosaic interpretation!

Before His arrest, Jesus talks with his disciples privately and prays for them. But He also includes all future generations in His prayer! Those who would believe in Him because of the testimony of His followers. That's us! This mosaic is done in that theme, as told in the Bible, the Gospel of John.

It is still Holy Thursday, and Jesus has been arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, the same place where He so loved His disciples and His future followers with an earnest prayer of protection and the granting of the Holy Spirit. Jesus waits trial in this mosaic depiction in the house of Caiaphas. He is very troubled and stressed. As told in the Bible in the Gospel of John.

This mosaic shows Jesus in front of Pontius Pilate before Jesus's scourging. He's telling the Roman that His kingdom is not of this world, that He is actually King of the Jews, and a new kingdom is coming upon the earth. As told in the Bible, the Gospel of John. That's it for my mosaic art on Holy Thursday! Thanks for watching! And for letting me share.

Holy Thursday - The Servant

Where do I begin? Tonight was a joy and a blessing in my life like I have never had. I have come to realize that in my life, God's blessings are not always subtle, but sometimes, they are "right up in your face!"

Choir was to be ready for practice for the Holy Service one hour prior to the service. We practiced and prepared our hearts for the beginning of the Easter Celebration. Earlier in the day, someone had sent a passage that Jesus washed the feet of Judas all the time KNOWING that he was going to betray Christ in just hours! Incredible! Would I have that much kindness? I don't know.

Father Juan gave a wonderful homily how we all are servants, and that we all are responsible to follow His example. We should always say Yes to what Jesus asks us since that will be a blessing to us for God always blesses us in one way or another. Father continued with asking the twelve people who had been contacted earlier in the week to have their feet washed to please stand and make their way to the altar. 12 chairs were placed and the participants walked forward. Father walked to where the choir was seated, looked at me, and asked me to join him. Aghast, I must have frightened the Priest when I whispered (my heart was pounding wildly because I thought I was in trouble) "Who me?" He responded "Yes, you!" He held out his hand as Jesus held his hand, and helped me walk out the steps to the Altar and into the empty chair.

Father then instructed us to remove our right shoe. Father knelt by my chair first, gave the altar servers instructions how to help. Water was poured over my foot, then oil was poured over it. Father rubbed the oil on my foot. More water was poured over it then Father took a clean towel, dried my foot, bent and kissed it. I was by this time, sobbing so hard...the blessing having my priest wash my foot, a "nobody" being served by a "somebody" - a man of God. My heart was full by the time we returned to our seats. Many of the choir were in tears also. Could God have been any more gracious to me?

What a blessing, and a day that will always be cherished.

There is a post script here...after the service, I spoke to Father and thanked him again for allowing me to be a part of the foot washing. He told me that one of the participating people had failed to show up. He looked around the church, and saw me...this is a large church! Of all the people, he chose me! Got knew this is just another journey in my faith to show He is in control and knows what I need exactly when I need it!

From the Catholic Bible, John 19: "Pilate's next move was to take Jesus and have him scourged. The soldiers then wove a crown of thorns and fixed it on his head, throwing around his shoulders a cloak of royal purple. Repeatedly they came up to him and said, 'All hail, king of the Jews!' slapping his face as they did so."

Good Friday was upon our Lord; the punishment for our sins was now to be played out on our glorious Savior. This punishment was prophesied in the book of Isaiah, Chapter 53, wherein it states "by his stripes we were healed."

This mosaic depicts Jesus from his back, as if he is on the cross. The evidence from the Shroud of Turin shows he was beaten from the sole of His feet to the top of His head. All for us! Praise be to God!

This mosaic depicts Jesus on the cross, but only showing His feet, pinned by a Roman nail, sacrificial blood pouring from His body and His feet down the cross. The Roman centurion, one of the men who crucified the Lord, declares that surely He is the son of God, because the Roman was amazed that Jesus, put to death for no crime, even then forgave those that condemned Him. The scene is perceived from the temple, looking out, and the veil of the temple is torn, now giving access to God directly; it is indeed a new covenant!

Good Friday continues. This mosaic depicts the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross between two thieves, condemned to death for their crimes, while the Lord was innocent. Jesus comforts the penitent man to His right while the other man mocks the Lord. He is entwined by the devil serpent, who is whispering lies into his ear so he cannot accept Jesus for Who He is. This mosaic is part of my corruption and salvation series. Thank you for letting me share!

As your temp administrator, I want to thank everyone who has submitted your Catholic art to the gallery these past weeks. The features page is full of Easter gladness as well as sadness. Bitter with the sweet. But Jesus Christ answered the call from The Father and was obedient. Praise be to God! He is risen today. Now our joy is made full. Thank you for sharing in this thread your heartfelt stories, images, and wishes.

Happy Resurrection Sunday! God bless your day!

This is an Easter that has been so different for me personally...perhaps since I am older, have a different perspective on things...I don't know! All I know is that colors, the liturgy, homilies, - everything is more vibrant and clear and meaningful to me than ever before. Thank you for these discussions!
